EchoTrail is built around discovering, creating, and sharing location-based experiences. These Community Guidelines explain what is and is not allowed on EchoTrail.
They apply to all users, profiles, Echoes, Capsules, photos, comments, reactions, usernames, reports, and other activity on the Service.
By using EchoTrail, you agree to follow these Guidelines along with the EchoTrail Terms of Service.
Our goal is simple: help keep EchoTrail safe, respectful, lawful, and enjoyable for everyone.
1. Be Safe in the Real World
EchoTrail connects digital content with real-world locations. That means safety comes first.
Never put yourself or someone else in danger to create, find, view, or unlock an Echo or Capsule.
You may not create or place content in a way that encourages someone to:
- trespass on private property;
- enter restricted or closed areas;
- cross fences, gates, barriers, or posted boundaries;
- walk onto active roads, highways, railroad tracks, or other unsafe areas;
- enter active construction sites;
- enter abandoned, unstable, or dangerous structures;
- approach hazardous machinery, electrical equipment, cliffs, waterways, or similar hazards;
- ignore park closures, emergency restrictions, or safety warnings; or
- break the law to access content.
An Echo appearing on the map does not mean you have permission to enter that location.
If a location appears unsafe, inaccessible, private, restricted, or questionable, do not attempt to reach it.
Use common sense and stay aware of your surroundings.
2. Do Not Use EchoTrail to Lure or Endanger People
You may not intentionally create an Echo, Capsule, location, message, or other content designed to:
- lure someone into a dangerous place;
- deceive someone about whether a location is safe;
- cause someone to trespass;
- frighten, ambush, threaten, or harm someone;
- encourage reckless behavior;
- target a particular person at a location; or
- facilitate a crime.
Using EchoTrail's location features to intentionally place another person in danger may result in immediate account suspension or permanent removal.
3. No Violence or Threats
You may not threaten, promote, encourage, or celebrate serious violence against another person.
This includes:
- credible threats of physical harm;
- encouraging others to attack someone;
- content intended to intimidate a specific person with violence;
- planning or facilitating serious violent wrongdoing; or
- using EchoTrail locations to coordinate violence.
Content documenting violence may also be removed when it is excessively graphic, exploitative, or likely to cause harm.
4. No Harassment, Bullying, or Stalking
Do not use EchoTrail to target or torment other people.
You may not:
- repeatedly harass another user;
- send or post targeted abusive content;
- stalk someone;
- repeatedly contact someone who has made it clear they do not want contact;
- encourage others to harass someone;
- use location information to track or monitor someone without permission;
- threaten to expose someone's private information;
- deliberately humiliate or intimidate another person; or
- evade blocking or account restrictions to continue contacting someone.
Disagreement and criticism are allowed. Targeted abuse and intimidation are not.
5. Protect People's Privacy
Do not share another person's sensitive private information without permission.
This may include:
- home addresses;
- precise private locations;
- phone numbers;
- passwords;
- financial information;
- government identification information;
- private messages;
- medical or other highly sensitive personal information; or
- information that could reasonably put someone at risk.
Because EchoTrail is location-based, take particular care when posting content connected to private homes, schools, workplaces, or locations associated with specific individuals.
Do not use EchoTrail to expose someone's current location in a way that creates a safety risk.
6. Child Safety
EchoTrail has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse or exploitation.
You may never use EchoTrail to create, upload, share, request, promote, facilitate, or engage in:
- child sexual abuse material;
- sexual exploitation of a minor;
- grooming;
- sexual solicitation of a minor;
- sextortion involving a minor;
- sexual trafficking involving a minor;
- requests for sexual images or videos involving minors;
- attempts to arrange unlawful sexual contact with minors; or
- other predatory or exploitative conduct involving children.
This rule applies to all areas of EchoTrail, including content that is private, locked, restricted, or contained in a Capsule.
Accounts involved in child exploitation may be immediately terminated.
Where appropriate or legally required, EchoTrail may preserve relevant information and report suspected exploitation to appropriate authorities.
If you encounter suspected child exploitation, report it immediately through EchoTrail's reporting tools or contact:
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
7. Do Not Exploit or Endanger Minors
Beyond sexual exploitation, you may not use EchoTrail to:
- stalk a minor;
- encourage a minor to enter a dangerous or restricted location;
- blackmail or threaten a minor;
- manipulate a minor into unsafe activity;
- deliberately reveal a minor's private location in a dangerous manner;
- arrange unlawful meetings with minors; or
- engage in other predatory behavior.
8. Hate and Abusive Conduct
Do not attack, threaten, or encourage violence against people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristics protected by applicable law.
We may remove content that:
- calls for violence against a protected group;
- celebrates serious harm against a protected group;
- uses dehumanizing language in a threatening or abusive manner; or
- targets individuals with severe discriminatory abuse.
Discussion, criticism, satire, and debate are not automatically violations. Context matters.
9. Sexual and Explicit Content
EchoTrail is a general social and location-based platform, not an adult-content service.
Do not post sexually explicit or pornographic content.
Sexual content involving minors is strictly prohibited under all circumstances.
We may also remove sexually suggestive or graphic material when it is inappropriate for the platform, exploitative, non-consensual, or likely to expose users to unwanted sexual content.
10. No Non-Consensual Intimate Content
Never upload or share intimate or sexual images of another person without that person's consent.
This includes:
- secretly recorded intimate material;
- revenge pornography;
- manipulated sexual images intended to depict a real person;
- threats to distribute intimate content; or
- content shared beyond the scope of the person's consent.
Serious violations may result in immediate removal from EchoTrail.
11. No Illegal Activity
You may not use EchoTrail to facilitate, promote, or coordinate unlawful activity.
This includes using the Service for:
- theft;
- vandalism;
- fraud;
- trafficking;
- illegal sales;
- trespassing;
- serious property damage;
- criminal threats; or
- other illegal conduct.
Content discussing criminal activity for legitimate educational, documentary, artistic, or newsworthy purposes may be treated differently depending on context.
12. No Scams, Fraud, or Deception
Do not use EchoTrail to deceive people for financial or personal gain.
You may not:
- run scams;
- impersonate businesses to obtain money or information;
- conduct phishing;
- promote fraudulent giveaways;
- trick users into revealing passwords or financial information;
- knowingly promote fraudulent products or services; or
- use EchoTrail content as part of a deceptive scheme.
13. No Harmful Impersonation
You may not impersonate another person, business, government organization, public authority, or EchoTrail representative in a misleading way.
Parody, commentary, or fan accounts may be allowed when it is reasonably clear that the account is not actually the person or organization being portrayed.
14. No Spam or Platform Manipulation
Do not interfere with the normal operation of EchoTrail.
You may not:
- spam users;
- mass-create accounts;
- use automated accounts or bots without authorization;
- artificially manipulate reactions, followers, Tune Ins, reports, or engagement;
- scrape EchoTrail without authorization;
- distribute malware;
- attempt to overwhelm the Service;
- exploit bugs to gain unauthorized access;
- manipulate location information to abuse the Service;
- evade suspensions or bans; or
- coordinate false reports against other users.
15. Respect Intellectual Property
Only upload content you have the right to share.
Do not knowingly post:
- copyrighted photographs you do not have permission to use;
- copyrighted artwork or other material in violation of applicable law;
- counterfeit material;
- content that unlawfully uses another person's trademark; or
- other content that infringes intellectual-property rights.
If you believe your intellectual property is being infringed on EchoTrail, contact:
16. Be Truthful About Locations
Location is a central part of EchoTrail.
Do not intentionally falsify or manipulate the location of an Echo or Capsule in order to:
- deceive users;
- cause someone to travel to the wrong place;
- make content appear accessible when it is not;
- bypass safety restrictions;
- harass someone;
- interfere with another user's experience; or
- facilitate prohibited conduct.
Normal GPS inaccuracies are expected and are not violations.
17. Respect Private Property
Do not place Echoes or other location-based content on private property in a way that encourages unauthorized entry.
Examples include:
- someone's private backyard;
- inside a private residence;
- employee-only areas;
- fenced commercial property;
- restricted facilities; or
- land where public access is clearly prohibited.
Content near private property should be positioned so users can reasonably access it from a lawful and safe location.
18. Do Not Interfere With Sensitive Locations
Exercise good judgment around locations where location-based social content could interfere with safety, privacy, security, or normal operations.
EchoTrail may restrict or remove content associated with places such as:
- emergency scenes;
- active crime scenes;
- hospitals or medical facilities;
- schools;
- shelters;
- military or government security locations;
- critical infrastructure;
- disaster areas; or
- other sensitive locations.
Context will matter.
19. Graphic or Disturbing Content
Content showing severe injuries, death, gore, animal cruelty, or other highly graphic material may be restricted or removed.
We may consider whether content has legitimate documentary, educational, historical, or news value when reviewing it.
Content intended primarily to shock, glorify suffering, or encourage violence may be removed.
20. Self-Harm and Dangerous Challenges
Do not use EchoTrail to encourage, promote, or coordinate self-harm or dangerous challenges.
Content that provides support, recovery information, awareness, or legitimate discussion may be allowed.
If someone appears to be in immediate danger, contact appropriate emergency services.
21. Respect Other Users' Boundaries
EchoTrail provides tools such as blocking, hiding, reporting, and privacy controls.
Do not attempt to defeat another user's decision to block or restrict you.
Do not create replacement accounts or use another person's account to continue unwanted interactions.
22. Reporting Violations
If you see content or behavior that appears to violate these Guidelines, use the reporting tools available in EchoTrail.
Reports may be reviewed along with relevant account and content information.
For serious safety concerns, you may also contact:
Submitting a report does not guarantee that content or an account will be removed.
EchoTrail evaluates reports based on these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, applicable law, context, severity, and available evidence.
23. Do Not Abuse the Reporting System
Reports should be made in good faith.
You may not intentionally:
- file knowingly false reports;
- coordinate mass false reports;
- repeatedly report users merely because you disagree with them;
- use reporting tools as a form of harassment; or
- manipulate the reporting system to silence another user.
Abuse of reporting tools may itself result in enforcement action.
24. Enforcement
When content or conduct violates these Guidelines, EchoTrail may take action including:
- removing content;
- limiting content visibility;
- restricting certain features;
- issuing warnings;
- preventing interactions between users;
- temporarily suspending an account;
- permanently banning an account;
- preventing creation of replacement accounts; or
- taking other reasonable measures necessary to protect the community.
The action we take may depend on:
- severity of the violation;
- potential harm;
- whether the violation was intentional;
- previous violations;
- surrounding context;
- legal requirements; and
- risk to users or the Service.
A single serious violation may result in permanent removal without a prior warning.
25. Law Enforcement and Safety Requests
EchoTrail may preserve or disclose information when required by applicable law or valid legal process.
We may also take appropriate action when we reasonably believe it is necessary to address an emergency involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, subject to applicable law.
EchoTrail does not provide users with access to law-enforcement databases and does not act as a law-enforcement agency.
26. Context Matters
Not every reported post violates these Guidelines.
When reviewing content, EchoTrail may consider:
- the apparent intent;
- the surrounding conversation;
- whether the content is educational, documentary, artistic, satirical, or newsworthy;
- the likelihood of real-world harm;
- the user's behavior;
- whether a specific person is being targeted; and
- other relevant context.
We may make reasonable judgment calls where a situation is not specifically addressed by these Guidelines.
27. Changes to These Guidelines
EchoTrail may update these Community Guidelines as the Service evolves or as new safety issues arise.
Each version may include an effective date and version number.
Material changes may be incorporated into updated EchoTrail Terms of Service and may require renewed user acceptance where appropriate.
Continued use of EchoTrail after an applicable update is subject to the then-current Guidelines and Terms.
